Momma Oscar (Monica Akinyi) has been apart of one of the largest slums in the world called Kibera! This slum found on the outskirts of Niarobi which is the capital city of Kenya Africa is about 1 square mile in area yet holds a population from between 800,000 and 1,000,000 people. It’s living conditions are some of the worst we have ever seen with garbage and sewage on almost every pathway, and food and water often hard to come by.
While living in these conditions and barely able to feed her own family, God laid on her heart a calling to care for the many children of Kibera. So armed with nothing but faith in her God she moved forward caring for just a few children. Now with a small building located on the edge of the slum (and a new one in process) she along with others care for the children of that area.
Together they provide schooling and food for 200 children and do this all for less than what it would cost to feed the average large American family for a month.
